Hotels in Manila Philippines, my personal recommendations!

Hotels in Manila Philippines can vary from one extreme to another. Finding the one that suits you best can be a bit of a lottery.

The choice and quality of hotels in Manila Philippines can range from top end 5 star hotels to cheap and clean Pension Houses. You can also get some very ordinary accommodation in Manila which could very well leave a bitter taste on your holiday. One thing to remember is that you inevitably get what you pay for.

Hotels in Manila Philippines - Pan Pacific
So if your expectations are high then a 4 or 5 star hotel will be ideal for you. The great thing about Manila hotels is that they are usually more competitively priced than other neighbouring Asian cities.

Why stay in Manila?

Manila is a big, busy, robust city, it is the hub of the Philippines. No matter where you want or need to go, Manila is the city you need to be in, to get you there. In most situations you will need to return to Manila, stay in a Manila hotel and then catch a bus, ferry, or plane onwards, either within the Philippines or to return home, with a tear in your eye, wherever that may be.

The business district of Manila is Makati City which is about 8 kilometre from the Nino Aquino International Airport. The range of Manila hotels in Makati City are generally top end 5 star hotels and apartments. These cater for the international business executives. Hotels in Makati City are generally more expensive than in Metro Manila.

The entertainment districts of Metro Manila are Ermita and Malate. In these areas you will find a huge range of Manila hotels, some great restaurants and bars. From the Manila Airport it is only about 8 kilometres to Ermita and Malate.

Hotels in Manila Philippines

To help guide you through the many and varied hotels in Manila I have compiled my recommendations on Manila hotels which I have actually stayed in. I have only reviewed here the Manila hotels that I would return to and be comfortable recommending to you.

Where should I stay in Manila?

Hotels in Manila Philippines can be found just about everywhere, but you should give consideration to where you want to go and what you want to do whilst in Manila and choose your hotel accordingly. It is pointless staying in Metro Manila if you have business appointments in Makati City.

Hotels near the Manila Airport

A lot of international flights arrive in the late evening. If you have an early morning internal connecting flight, you may just want to stay close to the Manila Airport. So a hotel close to the airport for the night may just be ideal for you.

The following two hotels I highly recommend, one is good value for money whilst the other is 5 star.

The Manila Airport Hotel
The Manila Airport Hotel is one of the closest hotels to the airport, it is actually within the Nino Aquino International Airport Complex. It is also very well priced and has two rate schedules. One for your standard overnight stay and the other for Layovers of 6 hours or less.

The Heritage Hotel Manila
The Heritage Hotel Manila is only 4 kilometres from the Manila Airport and is very well presented. It is a 5 star hotel with 5 star service, the pricing is very reasonable and I enjoy returning here as the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Have a look here for more information on the Heritage Hotel Manila.

The Traders Hotel Manila
The Traders Hotel is in a nice a central location. One of the major advantages was how close to all the entertainment and food areas it is. Not to mention the fantastic view of Manila Bay, in particular the Manila Bay Sunsets.

Have a look here for more information on the Traders Hotel Manila.

Sofitel Philippines Plaza Manila
If you want peace and quiet in Manila, I know it is hard to imagine, but if you do and you don't mind traveling a little further to get to the malls, then you should try the Sofitel Philippines Plaza Manila. The only resort in Manila.

Have a look here for more information on the Sofitel Philippines Plaza Manila.

Manila Diamond Hotel
This is a 5 star hotel. It has all the 5 star trimmings, it is luxurious and the service is first class, but that is what you would expect from a 5 star Manila hotel. If you want to spend up and treat yourself to something special, then check out the Manila Diamond.

have a look here for more information on the Manila Diamond Hotel.

The Manila Hotel
This is a prestigious 5 star hotel in Manila. It has it all, history, luxury, grandeur and a price tag to match! But if you have the money then this is the place for you!

have a look here for more information on the Manila Hotel.

The Hyatt Hotel & Casino Manila
This is a 5 star hotel in the Malate district of Manila. It has seen better days, the hotel is a bit tired looking and needs an injection of funds to bring in up to what you would expect for a 5 star hotel in Manila.

Have a look here for more information on the Hyatt Hotel & Casino Manila.

The Century Park Hotel Manila
This is another 5 star hotel in the Malate district of Manila. Although you would be excused for thinking it's star rating was much lower. Unfortunately the service is not up to 5 star quality either and was quite disappointing, hopefully you will have a better stay.

Have a look here for more information on the Century Park Hotel Manila.

The Holiday Inn Galleria
A 4 star hotel in the leisure area of Ortigas Center in Pasig City in Manila. It has great service, fantastic city views at night from there floor to ceiling windows.

Have a look here for more information on the Holiday Inn Galleria.

Peninsula Manila
This is a luxurious Manila hotel and has a hefty price tag to go with it. It is located in Makati City, the business and financial district of Manila. It has all the aires and graces you could ever want or need and do not even need to leave the hotel as everything is here for you.

Have a look here for more information on the Peninsula Manila.

Discovery Suites
This is a great hotel with extremely helpful staff. It is located in the Oritgas Center, Pasig City and has a very homely ambiance, they are confirming there marketing advertisments; Come home to Discovery Suites! a little slice of home it is.

Have a look here for more information on the Discovery Suites.

Hotels in Metro Manila – Ermita

Ermita is the entertainment area where most tourists end up. There is a great range of affordable restaurants, bars and hotels. The area is also very close to the Port area if you need to catch a ferry onwards.

Iseya Hotel
When I stay in Ermita for any length of time and I’m on a strict budget I always stay at the Iseya Hotel. This is a budget Hotel but it is clean and tidy and well run and owned by some Australians. I still believe they have the coldest beer in Manila in the roof top bar and restaurant.

Have a look here for more information on the Iseya Hotel.

Pan Pacific Manila
This 5 star Manila hotel is relatively new to the Ermita area and did appear to be a bit of a gamble building a luxury Manila hotel away from Roxas Boulevard and views of Manila Bay. But it has proved most people wrong. Hotel in Manila Philippines do not get any better than this. I t is always a pleasure to return and quite affordable considering it is a five star hotel.

Have a look here for more information on the Pan Pacific in Manila.

The Manila Pavilion
This is a 4 star hotel in the Ermita district of Manila. It is slowly being refurbished so it is a mixture of old and new, but at least they have made a start.

Have a look here for more information on the Manila Pavilion.

Cherry Blossoms
This hotel is great value for money. There is a new section and an old section, I do not recommend the old section, the new section does not cost all that more and the extra dollars are well worth it. Make sure you discuss with the hotel where they have booked you before you pay.

have a look here for more information in the Cherry Blossoms Hotel in Manila.
