Discovery Suites come and discover for yourself!Note:This page was written by a very good friend of mine who recently had the pleasure of staying at the Discovery Suites. Just in case you thought I recently had a sex change!. Though already detached for some odd months from the nine-to-five world I call “corporate slavery”, I still vividly remember seeing Discovery Suites fliers offering affordable accommodation rates. The Discovery Suites were marketing to us for friends’ get-togethers or family “weekend getaways” and at the time I had not found the time to check ourselves or families in, oftentimes opting our respites be spent in near out-of-town provinces, or hey, the beach. That was until last week. Wanting nothing but favorably priced excellent service and amenities for my friend’s oncoming bachelorette party, a couple of close girlfriends and I decided to have an online reservation booked days in advance. Having canvassed other at par hotels in the area, Discovery Suites seemed to be one of the better choices. And it sure did! 
When the actual day came, we smoothly checked in with the lobby and reception staff, who ushered us through its elegant interior. With its understated ambience of luxury, this tranquil four-star hotel coupled our little celebration with a relaxed state. Spa and massage junkies ourselves, our itinerary started off with its available lulling aromatherapy treatments. It was even replete with sauna, steam room, an indoor swimming pool and gym facilities, perfect for any sports and leisure-inclined guest. And with the famous Ortigas, Pasig City skyline view in sight, we passed some hushed intimate time in its Serendipity Lounge afterwards, further calming our stressed urbanite nerves. Expatriates and local Filipino families were familiar sightings. The next thing we knew, our other invited friends had already started to arrive, filling our rented spacious two-bedroom suite. Although there was a little delay time with our guests’ requests to the hotel staff, the whole stay proved to be a worthy repose. Living and kitchen areas were fully equipped with everything you need; along with the handy entertainment system for our shower party’s captured video clips. The Discovery Suites also allowed food to be delivered to the hotel without extra charge, a nice little touch. 
Mostly housing long-staying expatriates the Discovery Suites also aims to support the Philippines’ local tourism industry by offering an alternative respite from the daily grind of city life. It is now dubbed as one of Metro Manila’s new “urban destination resorts” (sans the actual sea and sand of course).
