Cebu the relaxed province
with plenty to do!

Cebu is an island province in the Philippines and is better known as the Queen City of the South because of its huge potential in terms of economy and infrastructure.

However, Cebu isn’t just all about tall buildings and great opportunities.

It’s the most ideal place to live, if you want a more laidback lifestyle.

Things to Do in Cebu

Cebu is a popular destination among Filipino's and has also captured the fancy and attention of millions of foreigners from all over the world. As a matter of fact, there are thousands of Koreans who visit Cebu Island every month.

Where you go in Cebu will be a matter of preference.

There are historical museums for those who want to take a trip down memory lane or you can take a walk around Fort San Pedro.

There are gardens and plenty of beautiful islands where you can enjoy diving, parasailing, jet skiing, and other water activities, to name just a few.

There are shopping malls that cover several acres of land, as well as the ultra-famous Carbon Market, which would definitely remind you of the shopping districts in Bangkok and Hong Kong.

Interesting Places to See in Cebu

If you happen to be in Cebu , make sure that you can take a side trip to any of the following places:

Taoist Temple
This is one of the oldest and most popular temples in Cebu. It contains several documents of Lao-Tse.

Beside fortune reading, you can also climb its almost 100 steps, that lead to the temple itself. Once at the Taoist Temple you can light some joss sticks and pray to the Gods.

One thing that you have to keep in mind, is you’re method of transport to the Taoist Temple. It is in the Beverly Hills area, which is well, hilly to say the least and you need a vehicle that can get to the top. There are hardly any public vehicles that go up there.

Cebu: Island Delights

Other places around Cebu that are worth visiting include:

Bantayan Island

Bantayan island is a small island located in the northern tip of Cebu. It is famous for two things: great beaches and small population.

If you’re looking for the most ideal recluse, this would be it. There are also several grand but definitely affordable beach resorts, where you can spend your weekend or summer.

Getting to Bantayan Island

Getting to Bantayan means you have to take a bus ride to San Remigio and then take a boat toward Bantayan Island, you will more than likely end up at Ste Fe on Bantayan.

It’s highly recommended to look for a place to stay before you go there, since their resorts are normally booked, especially during peak seasons such as summer.

Sumilon

Sumilon is actually a very small island, with an area of only 24 hectares. It’s very popular because of the many diving sites. The dive sites here had been damaged by the Muro-Ami fishermen, but with proper care and rehabilitation, it has brought back to life.

You can also expect a wide variety of marine species, shifting sand bars and open cottages.

do note though that there are only a few rooms available on the island, less than 20 of them so, don’t forget to make a reservation before your trip.

Despite being in between several other islands, Cebu is highly accessible.

It has its own international airport, Mactan International, with direct flights to a number of Asian countries.

It also possesses its own cargo and passenger port.
