Century Park Hotel Manila, not my first choice.

The Century Park Hotel Manila is a 5 star hotel.

However in the big world of hotels, there are hotels that serve as a luxurious getaway providing more than what we thought our hearts desired and those that just serve their purpose as a clean home away from home, you know somewhere to put your head on a pillow.

The Century Park Hotel Manila fulfills the latter, it is a clean and comfortable place where you can relax, you could probably extend that a bit further by saying it is a cozy place to stay.

Although, as far as 5 star hotels in Manila are concerned, the Century Park Hotel has a lot to live up to.

Other hotels in Manila, particularly 5 star hotels provide us with subtle grandeur and immaculate service, unfortunately the Century Park can leave you wanting.

Century Park Hotel Manila

Like all hotels around the Metro, security checks are at every entrance, which is the norm for most hotels in Manila, in todays age it is a necessary evil.

We understand why we have to be subjected to it, after all it is to our benefit, but there is a manner to which it becomes merely inconvenient. Lets face it, it is one thing to present the contents of your bags and luggage to security, it is another to be demanded or worse, just have the security grab and poke around in your bag.

You can expect such hostility at shopping mall entrances, but this should never be allowed at hotels, much less a 5 star Manila hotel, there is need for the Century Park to teach their security basic etiquette on how to be polite about their business, let them not forget who the customer is.

Lack of service at the Century Park Hotel Manila?

As harsh as it may seem, but once inside the hotel, you are only sometimes acknowledged and at times there is no doorman or bellboy to escort you to the concierge, this may not seem a big deal and maybe it would not be in a 3 star Manila hotel.

There have been times when I have found myself opening the hotel door to welcome myself in after the stressful security check. A hotel guest should never, ever, find themselves in this situation, especially if the hotel boasts of having a five star rating.

The staff is another thing, some smile and are polite enough to greet you, while others appear too busy to do so.

People at the front desk even appear intimidating at times. This in my opinion is not acceptable for a hotel with such a rating.

The service, at the Century Park Hotel needs to be looked at carefully.

Century Park Hotel Manila Reception

When it comes to amenities, Century Park Manila has restaurants and a swimming pool.

The difference here is unlike its competitors, who provide guests with spa services and adequate gym amenities, this hotel appears to be in the dark on what more it can offer. Its amenities, much like its appearance, are a bit run down and in need of some tender loving care.

Children will always appreciate a pool, regardless of appearance, yet apart from swimming, the kids are left to entertain themselves in the hotel room. This is not a place you would deem kid friendly.

Hotel rooms are bland and in need of a good overhaul as well.

Where is the Century Park Hotel Manila?

The Century Park Hotel Manila is located at 599 Pablo Ocampo St. 1004 Malate, Manila Philippines.

The most convenient form of public transportation from the airport and from various points in Metro Manila is to take a taxi.

Location-wise the hotel is walking distance from Harrison Plaza, an SM department store and a Shopwise supermarket. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and are more on the affordable side.

Located in Malate, most things within Manila are only minutes away. Guest can take a quick cab ride to the SM Mall of Asia for shopping and a fantastic view of the well harped-about Manila sunset.

For guests who want to go around the metro and save up on taxi fares, you can either walk or take a quick public utility jeep to the nearest Light Rail Transit station and take the train to various points in the Metro or transfer to the Metro Rail Transit train at the Taft station.

Unfortunately, the location of the hotel is in an area that is not exactly the safest and you should take great care of your belongings when venturing for a stroll outside.

Inside the Century Park Hotel Manila

Is the Century Park Hotel Manila worth the money?

In comparison to other hotels that are categorised as five star, the Century Park Hotel is affordable.

You can book a room for under $100 USD, though you do get what you pay for, at times even less. So even though the rates appear affordable, you end up paying more than what you get.

The Century Park Hotel is in need of a complete overhaul. This is not the place if you want to treat yourself to a luxurious getaway.
