Peninsula Manila reviews and opinions.

The Peninsula Manila is located in the heart of Makati City, Manila’s central business and financial district.

It is the ideal business address and has been operating in Manila for over 25 years.

It is stratigcally placed on the corners of Ayala and Makati Avenues, the Peninsula Manila is close to premier shopping facilities and within easy access of Manila's numerous attractions.

The hotel is a 30-minute drive from Ninoy Aquino International Airport and just 20 minutes from Manila's Domestic Airport.

Peninsula Manila Hotel

Built in 1976 to coincide with the hosting of the International Monetary Fund conference in Manila, the hotel consists of two wings, located on the corners of Ayala and Makati Avenues, after which they are named.

It is also the first Peninsula hotel outside Hong Kong.

The Peninsula in Hong Kong is an iconic hotel, the brand being synonymous with luxury and the elite, which the Peninsula Manila provides for visitors to the Philippines.

Elegantly furnished in classic style, the Peninsula Manila's 497 rooms and suites provide technologically advanced conveniences, including complimentary broadband Internet access for all hotel guests, as you would expect in a luxury hotel.

The Club has been designed with the needs of business travellers in mind and offers an exclusive Club Lounge, serving complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon tea, and cocktails, as well as a boardroom, business centre and butler service.

The hotel has recently completed a phased renovation and a refurbishment following a failed military coup.

The new look of the guest rooms in the Makati Tower reflects an international contemporary style with "Timeless Filipino" accents.

Peninsula Manila, dine in or take away?

Featuring some of Manila's top restaurants, the Peninsula Manila offers a wide choice of fine dining options that includes modern European, Italian, and a diversity of Asian cuisines in the hotel's numerous restaurants and bars.

Every night, there are two different types of live music - you have the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and a jazz band all pretty upbeat really

The Peninsula Manila also offers a range of hotel facilities including a spa and fitness centre - a luxurious oasis within the hotel with gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and massage treatments, plenty here to keep you occupied.

How do you get to the Peninsula Manila?

To get there, take the road leading to EDSA (Epifanio de Los Santos Avenue), turn right and go straight ahead to the corner of EDSA and Ayala Avenue and then turn left. From EDSA, the hotel is on the right-hand side of Ayala Avenue. Turn right to Makati Avenue and right again to the hotel's front entrance.

Or just ask your taxi driver to take you to the Peninsula, if they don’t know where it is, don’t get in, all taxi drivers know where it s!

The hotel also offers a fleet of Mercedes-Benz limousines for airport transfers and hourly hire and also depending on your arrival method, the hotel has a helipad for guests' use and can arrange for helicopter service through the concierge, not for me but I can let my mind wonder for a minute.

How much does the Peninsula Manila cost?

Room rates vary from US$175 – 2,500.

As you would expect use of the facilities are not cheap, but then again if you are staying here you can afford it!

The hotel staff is generally friendly and very accommodating, what you would expect from a luxury Manila hotel.

Hotel security is tight as guards routinely check underneath visiting vehicles for bombs and check every baggage that enters the hotel’s premises, don’t be alarmed by this as it is typical of all Manila hotels as well as shopping centres and commercial office buildings.

However, one thing the hotel lacks - an ATM. It's a 10-minute walk and an even longer cab ride to the nearest one which is way far on the other side of Ayala Avenue, in front of the Shangri La Plaza.

Now I’m not the only one who has stayed here, as brief as my budget was, others have been here before, click here to compare prices and read what other travellers have to say about the Peninsula Manila.
