SM Mall of Asia - No other Mall comes close.
The SM Mall of Asia in Manila is huge.
What I really liked about it was it was nice and airy, you did not get that claustrophobic feeling of being stuck in a concrete box. A lot of the lighting is natural, flowing through the huge windows, I'm glad I don't have to clean them!
The SM Mall of Asia is the largest in the Philippines and is the third largest in the world, at least by floor size, it ranks behind the
Golden Resources Mall in China and the
West Edmonton Mall in Canada.
But as there slogan so aptly puts it
No other Mall comes close, how true.
Four buildings make up the SM Mall of Asia, the Main Mall, the Entertainment Mall and the North and South Car park buildings, which can park 5,000 cars. One of the major concerns of the owner, SM Prime Holdings, was to ensure shoppers did not get lost, so they have put in place two concierge desks to assist you with finding your favourite shop.
What is good about the SM Mall of Asia?
It's location, it is right on Manila Bay and whilst I have not been there during one of Manila Bay's spectacular sunsets I could just imagine it would be pretty special.
If you are like me and would rather not have to stomp around a shopping mall all day, take heart, whilst your other half can get some retail therapy you can go ice skating on the Olympic size Ice Rink, or laze back in the first Philippines IMAX Theatre or you could go off to the Science museum, after all no other Mall comes close.
Where is the SM Mall of Asia?
The SM Mall of Asia is right on Manila Bay in Pasay City, Metro Manila. It is right beside the Cultural Center of the Philippines, just west of Roxas Boulevard.
In fact if you wonder down Epifanio de Santos Avenue, you will not be able to miss it.
How do I get to the SM Mall of Asia?
It's no good heading off not knowing where you have to go.
If you are coming by taxi just tell where you want to go, if he does not know where the SM Mall of Asia is then there is something wrong with him, get out and flag down another taxi.
If you are coming by either the LRT or MRT, make sure you get off at the EDSA-Taft Avenue stations. From here you can either jump on a
Jeepney or catch a taxi.
Getting to the SM Mall of Asia is a breeze, everyone knows where it is, if you get lost, you can just about ask anyone for directions.
What sort of shops are at the SM Mall of Asia?
Well, where do I start, with 600 shops, all trying to take your hard earned cash, the sort of shops you will find at SM Mall of Asia will not disappoint you.
Being an SM Mall, you have the SM Department store, SM Hypermarket and the SM Appliance Center. You also have a monstrous food court and restaurants.
There a fashion clothing, jewellery, hardware, homemaker, toys, you name it, it is here. As well as the Cinema Complex and Ice Skating Rink.
I'm not sure you could do the SM Mall of Asia any justice in one day, I think two days would cover it all, but I'm not sure your wallet or purse could cope!
Once in Manila you have to decide where to stay. Have a look here for some of my reviews and recommendation on where to stay in Manila.

What's Your Favourite Mall of Asia Shop?
Have you discovered a special shop, hidden gem, a shop that provides absolute bargains in the SM Mall of Asia? I'm sure I'm not the only one who constantly searches for great value shopping. Share it with your fellow shoppers! We'd love some great tips and stories, too.
