If it looks too good to be true...

I met a girl thru the Blossoms website. I had actually met several, and could have chosen better, but my choice was based on where I wanted to go (Cebu for vacation) more than on the girl, so...

She was (at 19) nice enough. Her family was actually very nice to me as well (her mom was highly educated and taught English in the hometown elementary school). I did spend appx $3.5K, including the flight and hotel. But it was the first vacation I'd had in almost 8 years, so no biggie. Though from what I understand, it was more than her father earned all year long.

Of course, for the full time I was there, she had somone from her family with her at all times. But what really surprised me most was that she brought her older GF along 90% of the time (she was there to provide "fun", b/c the girl I came to visit was still a virgin... supposedly).

So, I spent more than a week in Cebu, footed a $500 bill for a "town" party (small town just south of Daanbantayan), and had some "fun" with the older GF.

Three years after I left (it's been 4.5 years since I was last there), she turned up pregnant and w/o a husband. When will these girls learn? The sperm donor left for parts unknown overseas to find work. His family helps to minimally support the child, but that won't last.

I offered her a lifestyle she'll never find there, especially now that she's dragging an extra pair of feet along with her. But that was her choice. Guess there are times when you can teach new dogs any tricks either?

To "Sometimes it works"...
by: Anonymous

Perhaps... but sometimes is alot like when the weather forecast is "Partly Sunny". When they say that, what they REALLY mean is "MOSTLY CLOUDY"... they're just putting a positive "spin" on a negative scenario.

But it's nice for someone like yourself for whom it does work.

Me? I find myself laughing louder and louder ALL THE TIME when she (still) contacts me to tell me how POOR she is and how she needs help.

I just repeat... Help is what I offered you then... advice is the only thing I WILL offer you now... and the advice is to find a "sugar daddy"... one who is NOT me, of course... and then I cut contact!

Getting married over there
by: David

Actually we got married over there , i married her 10 days after i got there. There was a 10 day waiting period. We went to register the day i got there. She came over here on a spouse visa it took about 6 months to get all the paperwork and a interview with the USA embassy. This was back in 1989 when every thing was handled by the mail both our and there which was very slow. You can check on the Federal Goverment website to see what is required now.

Just curious, David...

But how difficult was it to get her VISA? I assume that was not until AFTER the marriage. I understand it can be quite difficult, requiring a whole lot of paperwork and "bribes" to move things along.

Thanks.

Some times it works
by: David

I went to Bohol next to Cebu in 1989 to meet my pen pall , her family made sure she had a relative along with us almost all the time. One of her brothers went with us as she showed me around their island. We stayed at her family house most of the time i was there, so i got to know her family as well. We got married 10 days later and are still married. My wife has now spent 1/2 her life here in the states ,we have raised our daughter, both work full time & looking forward to retirement.
