Travel to Palawan

I am planning a trip to Palawan this fall and am finding that travel within the area seems complicated.

What is the best route to and from Manila to Palawan?

So far it seems a flight via Puerto Princesa with PAL.

We are hoping to visit Sabang, Port Barton, and El Nido.

What is the best way to travel to El Nido?

Is it possible to fly directly from El Nido to Manila?

Or is it better to head back down to Puerto Princesa?

I've written the airline ITI with no response.

Any suggestions on where to stay?

My total trip time is about 10 days.

Thanks :-)

getting to palawan
by: Brett

Hi,

Basically, there are 3 ways to get to El Nido. They are:

- Direct flight from Manila to El Nido using Island Transvoyager Inc (ITI).
- By taking a flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa first and continuing the rest of the journey byroad to El Nido
- By boat from Manila to El Nido

The fastest way is by flight with ITI. They have 3 flights daily, Morning, Noon and Afternoon. The one way fare is around 6,750 php with 10 kilos baggage weight allowance.

South East Asian Airlines (Seair) also flies twice weekly direct from Manila to El Nido (Wednesday and Sunday).

Alternatively, you can fly to Puerto Princesa first using Cebu Pacific Air and then continue the rest of the journey by bus.

The last option is by using the San Nicholas lines cargo boat. The whole journey will take approximately 30 hrs.

As for accommodation, try Casa El Nido. It seems extremely popular.

Regards
Brett
