Things are Better than Good in Philippines

I'm an American and I met my Filipina totally by accident in a MySpace chat room.
It was in the wee hours of the morning when I went on...something I almost never do. She "bleeped" in and said hello; I ignored the intrusion thinking she would offer her webcam for "only 99 cents per minute."
After her second attempt, I bit.
We talked, laughed and the magic began. I'm no fool so I took all she said with some level of skepticism, but each of the many chat sessions gave me reason to believe most of what she said was true.
After 3 months and lots of "skyping" we made plans to meet in Manila. A 25 hour plane flight made me think, at my age, why in hell am I doing this? Then too,I was scared.
I've been around, but who hasn't heard the rumors about Manila...getting knocked in the head and waking up missing a kidney.
She greeted me at the airport and a cab took us to the Pan Pacific hotel where, at least, I felt reasonably safe and comfortable. The next day she showed me around the city and we flew off to Boracay.
It seemed as though we were meant for one another. All of this has been almost 3 years ago, and I visit her every 4 months or so. American immigration has been unkind on my end but we're working on that.
My advice to Americans is that be careful, but the Philippines and Filipinas are worth the trouble.
