Places to visit in philippines

Hi Brett

Read many of your answers to queries and wow, thanks for being such a great resource! I have some questions:

Some background info...
Am spending 19 D in Philippines from 27 Nov to 15 Dec landing in Clark Manila
Safety is a concern (will give Mindano a miss)
Love adventure & nature

(1) Not sure where to start, even after doing much research. Do you have a recommendation?
(2) Is traveling on jeepneys and buses safe?
(3) Is there a reasonable hotel / hostel to recommend in Manila that is near the MRT/LRT and safe?
(4) What are the places you will recommend for 19D in Philippines?

Thanks so much
Zara

Hi Zara,

Thanks for comments, im glad you are finding the information valuable!

1. Start from Manila as there is plenty to explore. Then slowly move outwards to the provincial areas like Tagaytay, Batangas, Puerto Galera and Boracay. Other places to consider can be Subic and Laguna.

2. Travel by jeepney and buses are the cheapest form of travel. I find them quite safe but there are incidents of highway robberies on the jeepney and buses.

Just dress appropriately and try not to carry too much cash around when you are travelling on the public transportation system.

3. Try Makati Apartelle in Makati. Prices for rooms per night starts at 1000php ($23).

4. As mentioned above in point (1). You can read more about these places on the Philippines travel guide site. We have articles covering these places.

Regards
Brett
