Philippine Honey Trap ....... yes it happened to me

About 6 years ago I was given a picture of a young lady from Ilocos Norte, well I told him I would like to meet her, she was a cousin of his new wife, so I made arrangements to go there and meet her, to my enjoyment I spent 2 weeks there and thought maybe it was too good to be true!

She needed help with her living expenses in order to prepare for a life with me, well the economy and my financial status took a bad turn in the years of 2009-2011 and in that time I built up my financial status to the point that I would marry her next time I went there.

In between she said that she knew things were tough even there and she still loved me, when I go there in 2011 everything had changed and her family made arrangements to get married because I would not continue to carry her in my plans, we got married and when I got back I heard from friends that she had another lover on the side, I annulled the marriage 1 week after we married.

In retrospect a lot of people ask me why even get married, partly I blame myself but just to think of doing this is dastardly on her and her family's part, I was prepared to commit to her family in all ways, and her family expressed their shock but I don't believe what they say... they only wanted money, so my attitude is not to forgive but remember people will do anything for money.

Right now I'm in the best financial position and I have another lady that doesn't ask for financial help. I hope someone reads this and thinks twice before going through getting a bride from a foreign country.

Sad

Sadly this is a trend that happens much too often. Filipina marries a Westerner, her parents and family are licking their lips, the untruthful sob stories began, and soon the Westerner is bankrupt, and Filipina leaves him.

The Honey Trap... is it really just a "Filipina" thing?
by: Tasha

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm a Filipina, raised in the U.S. for the majority of my life. (No, my mother did not get there by marrying an American. My grandfather was a Marine.) I have lived in Europe as well for some time and now am now back in the Philippines.

I don't quite know whether to be insulted or if I should sympathize with the things being written on here about Filipinas, because I have met both decent and shady types and more, but what I can say is that through my travels, I have also met American women and European women who marry for status or money so it's not just a "Filipina" trait indigenous to the region or something as what appears to be presented on this site. I just want to say that yes, there are women out there, Filipina or otherwise, who deceive and take advantage of the men who love them. However, there are also men who do the same. And following that thought, there are equally many Filipinas, Europeans, and Americans who are honest and sincere people in relationships.

Upon reading your experience, I felt sad, but one thing stuck out to me - you "heard from a friend" that your ex-wife was cheating on you and annulled your week old marriage. I think it's highly possible several decisions made rashly played a part in how your situation turned out. Regardless, I am happy to hear that your life has taken a turn for the good, the bright, the positive. Just wanted to share my perspective.

I am sorry to hear that..I have strong emotions towards a filipina and she have been recently lies about a lot of things. We spent years together and she's always pulling double standards on me. If it went for my strong feelings towards her I would have left already. Any advice?
