OJT at the Manila Zoo

by ai07

I worked at Manila Zoo for a hundred hours (just this may 2012) and met a lot of dedicated handlers, veterinarians and animal keepers who do their best in taking care of the inhabitants. This was apparent the way the animals gather around them and trust them.

Everyday, they would clean up the mess left behind by visitors (popsicle sticks, coins, bottles thrown to make the animals move).

Among the most rewarding things that happened was when the animals also got close to us, trainees, as well. they would react to our calls, approach the edges of their enclosures when we walk by and the like.

All in all, despite people's misunderstanding and lack of knowledge, I can say Manila Zoo is well and good.

Although there is always room for improvement.
