irresponsible management at Manila Zoo

Me and my family have been here at the Manila Zoo just this may 20, 2010. We have found it so miserable.

A philippine eagle lying down dead at the pathway!
A palawan bear cat suddenly dropped dead at his cage in front of my 7 yrs.old nephew!

Animals here are so pitiful! The tigers seem malnutritioned! Their hip bones are already been embosing! This is not a free leisure park!

What are you doing?!!! The big snakes or even the monkeys have flat tummies!

Aren't you afraid that if they got the chance to get out surely they will eat the care takers first in their hunger!!! If you can not feed them well you might as well bring them back to where they really belong!!! Just send them back to their natural home!

Remember GENESIS 1:28 ?!!! God gave the responsibility of all that is on earth to man!aren't you aware that you will be accountable to God for mistreating His animals?!!!

I got photos and videos of the poor animals esp. how the Palawan Bear Cat died!!! If you need them for proof then I will be willing to send it to you or show it publicly!!!

They are only animals yes! But because of your negligence in taking care of them you are much worse than these animals! Animals have no souls and spirit but man has!!!

But these animals like man have life also, they breath, they thirst and they go hungry!!!

Set them free to where they belong, that they may be able to feed themselves!

That's much better than your management do!!!

@ MelCid I'd rather see them in their natural habitats. What..be thankful that you saw them 10 feet away from where you are standing in rusty cages, malnourished and dying?? You are heartless.

if there are no zoos in the philippines, can you afford to go to other country just to see personally the different species of animals? if not because of manila zoo, have you seen a live elephant, tiger, etc.?

after i read this, this made me think how they really suffered inside their rusty cages..no freedom to do anything and worst was they weren't taken care properly or fed properly at all.. Since I was a kid I've been loving animals, I always thought that seeing them would be fun, but it wasn't fun to me at all and also to them...after reading so many articles about the poor results about what's happening to the animals, it would have been nicer and more pleasant if they'll just send it back where they came from, but it would also be hard because they were used to being fed and their natural instincts were already losing. I hope people would still care and foster and rehabilitate them until they could go back into their own feet so they'll be happy and free...

btw i hope you'll send me the link of your photo and video.

I heard many people saying good things about the manila zoo and i didnt expect it to be like this... i myself have been there but rarely notice the poor condition of the animals. Maybe because when i went there the manila zoo was yet popular... How pitiful that the government doesnt make actions regarding this. i would suggest that they bring back the animals where they can live without this horrifying condition if the management cant provide their needs... people are paying taxes to these government official for what? to watch the poor condition of these animals? they can do many things to help them... now i suggest that the manila zoo be closed so many animals wont suffer anymore the consiquences of human stupidity and careless behavior. Im ashamed.

Animals DO have souls. And if a zoo ceases to be a sanctuary for these animals, then it should cease to be. I will do whatever I can to make sure something is done about this.

Oh my god!! i don't know how to react after I read this note. I actually plan to visit Manila Zoo this month, however, I decided not to go. Simply because I don't want to see all the poor animals in such a pity conditions!

It will hurt me to see how they are being maltreated in such a place, we thought who could take care them the most. I'm very disappointed with all the personnel inside Manila Zoo premises, especially to the officers who have a great responsibility taking things in ORDER! You must do your job. Have a HEART for a wonderful animals. They deserved even better.
