getting to Tagaytay from makati

by L Gionfriddo

Hello,

I will be visiting Philippines in July this year and will be staying in the Dusit Hotel Makati.
I need to get some advise on the best means of travel from my hotel to Tagaytay city.

I was hoping that there is a bus service that would leave from the area that i'm staying in Makati.

I plan on staying in Tagaytay for five days before returning back to Manila.

Could you please supply names addresses and all contact details of such operators to enable me to make a booking.

Kind Regards,

Luigi Gionfriddo
Melbourne Australia.

Hi Luigi,

There are a number of bus services you can catch.

Buses to Tagaytay:

JAM Transit has trips to Tagaytay, Balayan, Batangas, Lemery. The Jam Transit terminal is at Taft Avenue corner Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue and is accessible from LRT Buendia station.

Crow Transit (Crow bus terminal is at the corner Taft Ave & EDSA right below MRT Taft Avenue station and walking distance from LRT EDSA station, same terminal as Erjohn & Almark and Genesis behind Sogo Hotel and MacDonalds)
It has buses to Nasugbu/Calatagan/Balayan in regular schedules.

BLTB (EDSA, Malibay, Pasay City) has buses every 15 minutes to Nasugbu, Balayan or Calatagan Batangas that pass by Tagaytay.

Kirby Bus to Tagaytay from Lawton

San Agustin bus with signboard "Mendez-Tagaytay" from Harrison Plaza on Vito Cruz (Pablo Ocampo) or Baclaran via Coastal Road, Aguinaldo Highway to the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang before reaching Tagaytay. (note this is a slow route due to lots of chokepoints in Cavite)

Saulog Bus Lines with signboard "Mendez-Tagaytay" from Harrison Plaza in Manila or Baclaran via Coastal Road, Aguinaldo Highway to the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang before reaching Tagaytay (note this is also a slow route due to lots of chokepoints in Cavite)

Celyrosa Bus Lines, this is an ordinary bus (i.e. non-airconditioned) in Pasay City (note this is a slow route due to lots of chokepoints in Cavite).

Just keep in mind that traveling via Coastal Road and Aguinaldo/Tirona highways requires a lot of patience as there are some major traffic conjestion problems which take place along these roads.

It is not unusual for you to waste anywhere between 1 to 4 hours in these delays.

Enjoy your trip....Brett

write it out

The directions are all very tough to remember so write it out for better reasons. Starting from Makati/Mandaluyong/Pasig: Take the MRT to Taft terminal station. Ride a bus to Nasugbu. Ask the driver to drop you off at Tagaytay. Have happy journey.
