Dengue Fever in Philippines

by Zaff Rana
(Southern Italy)

I am planning to travel to Cebu In July-Aug 2011 timeframe.

Since it is rainy season, my concern is about Dengue Fever.

Is that an issue in the Philippines or are there any cases of dengue fever anywhere in PI?

Thank you, hope to hear from you.

Philippines and Dengue Fever
by: Brett

Hi Zaff,

Dengue fever is always an issue for countries that lie within the tropics.

Where there are mosquitoes, there will always be dengue fever around. The Philippines is no exception.

Nevertheless, it is relatively safe if you are staying in a hotel as usually you don?t get mosquitoes breeding in such an establishments.

The best thing to do is to make sure you cover up and be mosquito aware, wear insect repellent at dawn and dusk.

Regards
Brett
