visa
by: Willian deLange

Hi Bret, Thanks for the response. Do I still have to buy a round trip ticket for the Visa? My goal is to retire there.

Reply:

Hi William,

If your goal is to retire in the Philippines, then I don't think you need a round trip ticket.

You just need to show an exit ticket (regardless of your final destination) out of the county. Get a one way ticket from the US to the Philippines and a cheap flight 21 days ticket from Philippines to Malaysia or Singapore using the budget airlines.

You can easily purchase the ticket online through their websites at:

For your extension of your visa, you do not need to show an exit ticket. So, even though your budget airlines ticket expired, it will not cost you as much as buying a round trip ticket for US to Philippines and vice versa.

Visa
by: William deLange

Hi Brett, got your message on the 60 day visa but the request was for 60+ days;

I'm pretty much convinced that I'll opt for a long stay there. Can this "conversion" be for a year?

Response:

Hi William,

You can extend your visa up to one year, but you will need to extend it every 60 days. So in 60 day blocks.

Once you have stayed for one year, you will need to leave the country for at least 24 hours and on your return, the process starts all over again.

incoming/ to Manila flights.
by: William deLange

Sirs: Please keep in mind that there are about 5,000 Philippinos traveling to the US each year on a one way ticket. It should stand to reason that these same planes have empty seats going there. Those seat prices should be on the cheap. Don't you think?

Reply:

I have no idea William. Most airlines here do not practice that kind of pricing.

But bear in mind that there are also thousands of American tourists visiting the Philippines each year.

Visa & Plane Ticket
by: b

Hi William,

The visa that you are automatically issued with is for 21 days upon arrival. As for your visa extension to cover a stay of 60 days, the rate is fixed at around 3,500php.

Regarding the cheapest ticket from NYC to Manila, I will have no idea as we do not cover inbound ticket prices.

Please check with your local travel agency for the best fare.
